Cosmetic Dentist Brisbane: - Zoom Tooth Whitening, General Dentists - Designer Dental Studio

Where natural teeth are missing, Designer Dental Studio highly recommend tooth replacement to prevent long term dental concerns.

Bridges are a good method of replacing a missing tooth. A dental bridge is a false tooth, known as a pontic, which is fused between two crowns to fill in the area left by the missing tooth. The two crowns holding it in place are attached onto your teeth on each side of the false tooth.

Bridges are a permanent tooth replacement option, and are fixed in place. One or more missing teeth can be replaced by a bridge.

The bridge is certainly a much better alternative to a partial denture or having no tooth replacement at all. However, it does have certain disadvantages compared to a dental implant.

  Bridges Dental Implant
Preparation - This involves removing healthy tooth structure from the two adjacent teeth. - This does not affect the adjacent teeth.
Necessary Appointments - You will wear temporary crowns while your bridge is being manufactured. This process takes 2 weeks. - Some dental implants can be fitted completely in one appointment.
Longevity - Bridges typically last between 15 and 20 years. - Implants provide a lifetime replacement.
Maintenance - Bridges can prove challenging to floss. - Implants can be brushed and flossed as normal.
