For many people the most nerve-wracking part of a dental visit is that anaesthetic at the start – commonly known as a needle. If an area is numbed inexpertly or too quickly, a sharp stinging sensation can be felt. That is why at Designer Dental Studio, we ensure we take the time to make local anaesthetic a comfortable and tolerable experience!
Dr Duval is very experienced at giving local anaesthetic. He has developed techniques so that the process of an injection is virtually painless. Your Care Clinician is also trained to provide you with support during local anaesthetic. They have many ways of diverting your attention!
So many of our patients comment on how easy the whole process is, compared to what they were expecting:
“I remember at one stage asking Dr Duval when he was going to give me the needle – he already had!”
- Pete
“The anaesthetic is the part that makes me most nervous. I love the fact that the assistant talks me through what’s happening and distracts me!”
- Sharon
We utilise the following techniques and technologies to improve your local anaesthetic experience:
- Use of numbing gel on the soft tissue and gum, prior to the injection
- Use of our LCD screens with relaxation DVD’s to calm and relax you
- Constant, clear communication – you will know exactly what to expect
- Slow, steady administration of local anaesthetic by Dr Duval to minimise discomfort
- Other distraction techniques used by your Care Clinician – we don’t want to give away all our secrets!
The Wand is especially useful when numbing the upper front teeth.
Please enquire about the suitability of The Wand for your own dental treatment.
