TMD is a chronic degenerative disease that affects millions of people. The majority of people that suffer TMD may be aware of their symptoms, but not understand why these symptoms occur. TMD
develops as a result of malocclusion, a non-ideal bite.
Symptoms of TMD are many and varied. We have tried to list as many as possible:
- Headaches / Migraines
- Jaw joint pain
- Jaw joint clicking or popping
- Facial pain
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Limited jaw movement or locking jaw
- Ear congestion
- Vertigo (dizziness)
- Tinnitus (Ringing in the ears)
- Difficulty swallowing
- Grinding and clenching
- Unexplained loose teeth
- Tender, sensitive teeth
- Worn or cracked teeth
- Postural problems
- Numbness/tingling in the fingers and arms
- Insomnia
- Nervousness or depression
If you do experience any or most of these symptoms, you may want to schedule a consultation with Dr Duval to assess your bite. Please contact the Designer Dental team to schedule an appointment.
